While on patrol, two troopers take the time to pose for the camera in a simulated road watch. Shortly afterwards they would head out for the real road watch where, hopefully, a man with a camera would pass by without even noticing them.
While the staged photo gives some misconceptions it does give a little information about the actual road watch. The men wear the Tropal coat and knit caps to protect them from the night chill, have brought a bail-out kit incase they need to make a run for it and brought the tools of the trade, a pair of binoculars. The SMLE gives a little protection but would be worthless if the men were spotted by a determined enemy force.
